Version and updates

See which version of Kaizendex you're on, how the desktop app updates itself, and read the full history of what's changed.

Kaizendex ships updates often. You can always see which version you're on and what changed in each release.

Finding your version

Open Settings — the gear icon next to your name at the bottom of the sidebar on desktop, or More in the bottom bar and then your name on phone — then choose About.

The Version row shows your current version, like v0.1.0. Get the apps in the same place opens the download page, where the desktop builds live.

What the version number means

Versions follow the standard MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH format:

The last number (patch) goes up for fixes and small tweaks.
The middle number (minor) goes up when a new feature lands.
The first number (major) is reserved for big milestones — it's still 0 while Kaizendex is pre-launch.

How the desktop app updates itself

The computer app (macOS and Windows) keeps itself up to date:

While you use it, it quietly checks for a newer version a few times a day and downloads it in the background. You never see a download bar.
When a new version is ready, a small "Relaunch to update" button appears in the bottom-left corner, with the new version number on it.
Click it and the app restarts into the new version — it takes a couple of seconds.
Ignoring it is completely fine. The button just stays there, and the update applies whenever you next relaunch.

You never need to go back to the download page for normal updates — that's only for installing on a new computer.

The phone apps

The Android and iPhone apps aren't out yet — both read Coming soon on the download page. Until they arrive, the web app works in a phone browser and syncs exactly the same data.

How the Android app updates itself

This part applies if you already have the Android app installed. It doesn't come from the Play Store — but that doesn't mean you're stuck with the version you installed.

Each time you open the app it quietly checks for a newer version in the background. If there is one, it downloads it while you carry on using the app. Nothing is interrupted, and there's no progress bar to wait on.

When the new version is ready you'll see a short message offering to Restart. Tapping it takes a second and puts you on the new version straight away. Ignoring it is completely fine — the update applies by itself the next time you open the app.

You can also check whenever you like: Settings → About → Check for updates.

The Build row

Under Version, the Build row tells you which version is actually running:

bundled — you're on the version that came inside the file you installed.
A short code like 8f3a91c — an update has arrived since then, and you're on that.

That's useful because the Version number doesn't change when an update arrives — only the Build does.

Reading the version history

In About, tap Version history to open the full changelog. It lists every release, newest first, with the date and time it shipped and the key updates in it.
