Track your daily habits
One Habits collection with a preset per habit, and a streak calendar for each habit on your dashboard.
You will build one Habits collection that holds every habit, plus a streak calendar per habit. One collection keeps your sidebar short and your history in one place.
Create the Habits collection
- Open Collections from the sidebar's rail and click New collection.
- Name it Habits and pick an icon.
- On the Properties tab, add Category (Tags), Done (Checkbox) and, if you like, Page for a note on the day.
There is no save button. Edits save as you go. See Creating a Collection.
Add a preset for each habit
Open the collection's Presets tab. Add one preset per habit. Each preset sets the habit's name, its emoji and its own Category tag:
- 🪥 Brush teeth — Category:
Brush teeth - 🍬 Candy free day — Category:
Candy free day - 📖 Read today — Category:
Read today
The Category tag is what tells one habit from another in charts and filters. You can rename a preset or its tag later without splitting your history. See Default values & presets.
Log a habit
Click New and pick the habit. The entry arrives already titled and tagged. Tick Done.
For a habit you count, like glasses of water, add a Number property such as Count. Give that habit's preset a starting value if it is always the same.
Add a streak calendar for each habit
- Go to your dashboard. Click the selected dashboard tab and choose Add widget, then Chart.
- Press + Add data source, pick Habits, then the Done property.
- Under Filter, narrow it to one habit's Category tag.
- Pick Habit as the chart type.
Tap a day to tick that habit. If the day is empty, the entry is created for you with the right tag. Repeat for each habit. See Building charts and dashboards.
Track a counted habit with a goal ring
For a habit with a Count, build a chart from that property, filter it to the habit's tag, and set a daily Goal. Pick Ring as the chart type. The ring fills as you log.
Want each habit's entry to appear every morning on its own? Add a scheduled rule on the Automations page that creates the entry through the habit's preset. More in Tracking habits and Automations.
